Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancún is the family side of Karisma's Margaritaville pair, a beachfront resort of 146 suites with thatched palapas, hanging day beds over the sand and four pools, two of them on the ocean. It welcomes guests of all ages, while its sister resort on the Riviera Maya is adults only.

Rooms are white and teal, with island art over the beds and terraces that open to the pool or garden. They run from premium rooms to swim-up suites, with royal and presidential suites at the top and rooms with private pools available.
Four restaurants carry the dining: Latino serves fusion cooking, Frank and Lola's is an Italian trattoria, Rita's Taco House does tacos and the Beach House sits on the sand. Six bars set the tone. S.O.S Swim Up Bar has hanging beds in the pool, 5 O'Clock Somewhere pours margaritas by the water, License to Chill has fire pits and evening music beside its own wet-feet pool, and Compass Bar is a Caribbean rum lounge in the lobby. Blended makes smoothies and super food bowls, and Joe Merchant's Coffee and Provisions handles coffee and in-room orders.
The day starts with sunrise yoga or Aqua Fit, then blender bikes, salsa and bachata lessons, kayaks, snorkeling and diving clinics in the pool, all included. Live music runs through the resort from solo players to full bands. Parakeets Kid's Club takes children 4 to 12, and St. Somewhere Spa handles treatments.
It suits families and groups of several generations who want a smaller resort with music and a private pool option.
